BoyleSports are the largest independent bookmaker in Ireland. They are to the emerald isle as Ladbrokes and William Hill are to the UK. They came into being in 1982, when John Boyle opened his first betting shop in Newry, Northern Ireland. By 2012 BoyleSports owned two hundred betting shops all over the Irish mainland.
Like most high street bookmakers, BoyleSports created an online sports book for themselves in the early 2000s. They followed it up with a poker room in 2004, a bingo room in 2005 and an online casino in 2007.
Promotions
When you open an account at BoyleSports, you are entitled to receive a total of £/€25 in bonus bets. You receive this bonus cash in the form of a £/€5 bonus bet every week for the first five weeks of your membership of the BoyleSports sports book.
To qualify, you need to place five real-money bets of £/€5 at odds of at least 1/2 (1.50) or combined for multiple bets. If you do this within a seven day qualifying period, you’ll receive a free bet worth £/€5.
You can do this every week for the first five weeks of your BoyleSports membership, and all qualifying bets must be placed within thirty days of your account being opened. You cannot use your free bets as qualifying bets, and your free bet stakes are not returned once your bet has been settled. This offer is only open to residents of the UK and Ireland, and all free bets you receive must be used within seven days of receipt.
BoyleSports always has a number of inventive promotions on the go. For example at the time of this review, they were offering to refund all losing bets on a Europa League match between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain if either side hit the crossbar during the game, and for the game between Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool if Liverpool took the lead at any time during the match. All money is returned as free bets.
There were other deals concerning other sports – for example, in golf for the US Masters should your chosen golfer ‘to win’ finish second or third, your stake would be returned as a bonus bet.
From what we could see, the promotions page at BoyleSports was constantly being updated to include new offers on all the latest events.

Site design
It’s virtually all text and numbers on the BoysleSports sports betting site. Whether you think this is a good thing is up to your personal preferences. There’s the usual menu down the left hand side, with the centre of the screen being taken up by up-to-the-minute information about the latest sporting events, with the emphasis on football and horse racing.
The latest live sporting wagering options are presented on the right hand side of the screen. You can see the latest in-play odds, and any changes automatically flash up red so you can keep on top of things.
The only thing we don’t like about the site is that now and then it seems to do an auto-refresh, when the whole site reloads itself in your browser at regular intervals. This is unnecessary and soon becomes annoying.
Cashier options
The site accepts Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards, as you might expect. What you might not expect though is the high number of eWallet and other finance methods the site accepts: PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard, Euteeler, Instadebit, GiroPay, ClickAndBuy, iDeal, Sofort Banking, eKonto and Trustly. You can even pay using your mobile phone bill, if you so choose, which is handy when you’re using the mobile version of BoyleSports.
The minimum deposit you can make at the site is £/€5. Most deposits are processed immediately, and there are no fees.
The minimum amount you can withdraw is £/€5. If you are withdrawing to an eWallet, expect to have your money within forty-eight hours. If you are withdrawing to your credit or debit card, then it will take between three and five days.
Conclusion
There’s only one niggle at BoyleSports, that we found anyway, and that was the auto-refreshing of their site. We could barely fault them for anything else, though, and we particularly liked the range of inventive promotions and bonus. £/€50 in free bets is an extremely attractive offer too.
We reckon that the odds of your sports betting going ‘off the boil’ at BoyleSports are very slim indeed.
