Normally when you enter a sports book site the first thing you notice is the welcome offer, but at William Hill things are very different – in fact you’d be forgiven for thinking that there is no welcome offer whatsoever. Head to the ‘Promotions’ page and there’s no mention of one.

We ended up asking live help, but all they seemed interested in was acquiring our email address. It turned out that the welcome offer came up as a ‘pop-up’, so if you have pop-ups blocked (like we had) then you’re unlikely to see anything, which is a bit odd.

When you place your first bet of at least £/€10, you will receive three bonus bets up to the maximum total value of £/€30. You only qualify for this bonus bet if you register then deposit using a debit or credit card, ‘Cash Direct’, a bank transfer or cheque.

Your first bet – whether single or cumulative – must be placed on an event or events with odds greater than 1/2 (1.50). You must use the promo code ‘C30’ when you make your deposit to qualify for this offer. You can only use this offer once, and it’s only open to residents of the UK and Ireland. You will not receive a free bet if you fund your account via Skrill. Neteller or Paysafecard.

You must use your bonus bet within thirty days, and your bonus bet stake is not included in any winnings.

Thankfully, William Hill’s other promotions are somewhat easier to find. These included at the time of writing some inventive offers such as the ‘Super Sub’ feature – on certain televised football matches if you back a player to score and he is subbed within 20 minutes through injury or at half time for tactical reasons, then your bet passes on to the player who replaced him.

In another offer, if your chosen ‘first goal scorer’ instead scores the second goal, you receive your money back as a bonus bet.

William Hill’s online sports betting site underwent a radical overhaul in 2016. The traditional desktop site was dropped in favour of a site that looked much better on tablets and smart phones than computers. The result was a very simplistic, flat site that has torn up the habitual sports book template.

Does this work? The answer is a resounding yes! We often make the comment here at bettingsite.host that too many sports books end up looking like accountants’ spreadsheets, so it’s great to see such an established sports betting company try something a little different.

The site has the information split over four tabs = Top Bets, In-Play, Enhanced and Next Off – then another tab takes you to the most popular sports – horse racing, football and tennis. Other markets simply require one further kick. This approach, we feel, works very well and receives a firm thumbs up from us!

William Hill accepts credit and debt cards (including Diners Club and Entropay), plus Skrill, PayPal, Neteller, Clickandbuy, WebMoney, Yandex, Qiwi and Moneta.ru, among many others.

Conclusion
We’re very much in favour of the new-look William Hill site – it looks especially great on tablets and is even easy to use on smart phones.

We’re also in favour of the welcome offer (when you find it) and the other promotions.

What we’re not in favour of is the customer support (and other testimonials on the web echo these sentiments). It was – quite frankly – the rudest and least competent customer support we’ve ever experienced. You should bare this is mind if you ever experience issues at the site.
